Esta imagen es parte de una pequeña serie de grabados, que intentan
abordar el tema de los cambios climáticos, la destrucción de ecosistemas,
plantas, animales, y nuestra colaboración a esta devastación como especie.
En el lado izquierdo de la imagen esta representado un cuervo vivo, y del lado derecho el cráneo del cuervo, quienes representan la dualidad y nuestra paradójica situación como especie dominante en la que junto con todas las especies que se extinguen día con día cavamos nuestra propia tumba. Curiosamente esta sociedad endoctrinada se siente exenta de esta desaparición permanente pese a las alarmantes señales del camino que llevamos. Y se siente exenta en su contribución a la tierra y el medio, negando los mas básicos procesos de vida con el envejecimiento, la muerte y un culto irracional a la juventud. Es momento de voltear a ver la manera en la que el mundo esta interrelacionado, de que sin muerte no hay vida, y que sin la extracción de recursos naturales no hay capitalismo.
Este diseño se destinó para el nuevo disco "Luctus" de la banda punk Bumbklaatt de Tijuana/Chula Vista. La imagen se encuentra dentro del disco en el inserto y en una serie de collages que se realizaron en colaboración con el artista Adrian Balderrama tambien baterista de la banda. This is an image part of a small series of prints, that attempt to take on the subject of climate change, the destruction of ecosystems, plants, animals, and our collaboration as a species to this devastation.
On the left side of the image there is a live crow, and on the right side there a crow skull, and they represent duality and our paradoxical situation as a dominant species in which along with all of the species that become extinct day in and day out we dig our own grave.
Curiously this indoctrinated society feels exempt from the permanent disappearance despite the alarming signs in the path we have set ourselves to walk on. It feels exempt from its contribution to the earth and the environment, denying the most basic life process' such as aging, death, and an irrational cult for youth. It's time for us to look at the way the world is intertwined, that without death there's no life, and that without natural resource extraction there is no capitalism.
This design was destined to the new record "Luctus" by Tijuana/Chula Vista punk band Bumbklaatt. The image can be found on the insert and in a variety of collages done in collaboration with artist Adrian Balderrama also drummer for the band. For further information on the band click here.
