No Hope
$20

Here's something light and inspirational. All this "hope" bullshit we've been hosed down with over the past year has been, really, a little much. This quote from the Minutemen should serve as a nice counterpoint. Featured in this image are our friends: Uintatherium, a 50-million year old horned ungulate from North America and East Asia; Thylacoleo, the largest marsupial carnivore from Australia, 10 million years ago; Dicynodon, one of the ancient ancestors of mammals. The dicynodonts were mammal-like reptiles that occupied much of the Earth's land area prior to the end of the Permian Era(250 million years ago), when 90% of all species on Earth went extinct. Their elimination cleared the way for the dinosaurs, but they had more to say: After the catastrophe that killed off the Dinosaurs (except, of course, for birds), the mammals that were their descendants managed to take control of the earth. We know how the story ends: that last species, in the bottom right. The prodigal heir to the throne of life, who's grinding it all away.
Note: Three of these have a lighter brown for the text and background.
