Bluefin
$25

A eulogy for the Bluefin Tuna, the world's most highly endangered large fish. The Atlantic population of this titanic predatory fish is down more than 90% since 1960. As humans hunt out the seas with industrial fishing techniques, a dangerous experiment is being performed: extirpation of top marine predators effectively deregulates marine ecosystems, leading to dangerous population explosions and massive crashes of biodiversity. The bluefin is almost gone, and in its wake? The rise of slime.

This print started off as a relief print, which I turned into a silkscreen. The scales were hand-drawn with an opaque marker on mylar. The paper is a dark licorice green/black, and the scales are printed in silver ink, which gives it a really nice effect in different lights...
