I recently came across a stack of each of these newsprint papers and thought it would be worth putting on justseeds. Blackthorn was a publication out of Portland that numerous members of justseeds contributed to. The collective was active from 2001 - 2004, publishing 4 issues throughout the years. Blackthorn was printed in runs of 10,000 and was financed entirely through benefits and donations. Creative outlets were often used for mailing these out across the globe.
The issues available here include such articles as interviews with the Beehive Collective, the Buffalo Field Campaign, The beginning of the Iraq War, Tree Sit actions, Cascadia Summer, The Dope Project, Bicycles across borders, ELXT90, a veggie oil tour across Canada and the US, and much more.
The design aspect of Blackthorn was priority #1. The entire paper was layed out by hand, without the use of computers (in our more luddite years). Most all the text was done on typewriter or letter press. Much of the art throughout was from block prints, stencils or drawings. In these two issues there are contributions from Nicolas Lampert, Josh MacPhee, Erik Ruin, Lydia Crumbley, Pete Yahnke, Shaun Slifer, Ally Reeves, Henry Rodriguez, and more.

For $3 you get both issues, all proceeds from this will go to the expenses of the Justseeds portfolio for the Critical Resistance 10 year anniversary conference.
