Noel(le) Longhaul
Defend Blair Mountain
$25

Blair Mountain, in West Virginia, is the site of one of the the largest armed insurrections in U.S. history. In 1921, in an attempt to unionize, between ten and fifteen thousand coal miners took up arms against corporate militias and police, and were eventually struck down by aerial bombings ordered by the Harding administration. A largely unknown and ignored landmark of labor history, Blair Mountain is currently slated for mountaintop removal, a toxic and destructive form of coal mining. This print is intended to promote the organizations associated with the effort to defend and preserve the mountain and its history. It is a reminder of the need to fight for the survival of the culture and environment of Appalachia.

Noel'le Longhaul is a musician and artist studying printmaking at the Rhode Island School of Design.
