Some say that the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+) scheme being pushed by the UN could help sustain communities who rely on forests. Others see it as paving the way for land grabs around the world which directly threaten the livelihoods and cultures of those communities and their forests. No REDD Papers Volume One aims to decode the complexities of REDD+ using clear and straight-forward language while opening up a space for critical perspectives.

This booklet aspires to broaden the debate on the forest offset scam known as Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD). It includes essays by activists and agitators, along with indigenous perspectives and the voices of those who are facing down misguided REDD plans. It aims to highlight critical perspectives that are frequently drowned out by large NGOs, corporative lobbies, governments, carbon traders, international financial institutions and the United Nations.

Noredd.makenoise.org is a popular education blog featuring a series of educational booklets that can be used as tools for widening the ongoing collective discussion and for learning about REDD+.
