Bowl Down the Prisons
$25
“Bowl Down the Prisons” was originally created for a bowl-a-thon fundraiser for California Prison Moratorium Project.
California Prison Moratorium Project seeks to stop all public and private prison construction in California. Without drastically reducing the number of people in prison, we cannot make our communities whole, and we cannot achieve real safety. The drive to build more cages as the solution to crime distracts us all from focusing on the root causes of crime in our communities. Prisons don’t bring any of the things that make us feel safe – having people you know and trust around you, having a job and a home. Prisons are a form of environmental injustice: normally built in economically depressed communities that eagerly anticipate economic prosperity. PMP links rural and urban folk — those who are forced to live in the shadows of prison lights, and those whose families are divided by prison walls.
