Running Up That Hill

This piece is about indigenous women and their fight against multinational water corporations. Following the implementation of NAFTA and "Free Trade", land and water that had once been held communally by native people or seen as being property of the public (such as lakes) became available for private ownership. In most cases, the government or large multinational corporations bought the land and water resources for private use. The indigenous communities were no longer allowed to use these resources, and a major element of their survival and of their culture was stolen. The small circles in the piece reflect the increasing lack of water. I named the piece "Running Up That Hill", after one of my favorite songs by the British singer/songwriter Kate Bush.
