JBbTC 10: Portuguese Modernism

Posted June 14, 2010 by jmacphee in Judging Books by Their Covers

amadoj2.jpgI found this nice little collection of Portuguese modernist book covers in a friends academic office. They are from the 30s-60s. They designs are all hand painted, with the type treatment hand painted on most of them as well, don't see that much anymore! The Pasternak cover is a bit of a snoozer, but the Amado covers are great with their overlapping colors, line styles, and handmade type.
