If you are in Pittsburgh this weekend, check out this amazing print resource. AIR has directly supported Justseeds artists and Pittsburgh activists over the years, including Josh MacPhee and myself. Their weekly Open Studio program has facilitated hundreds of folks in learning to print. I have been volunteering and printing there for almost a decade! These all-day benefit parties are always lots of fun.
For this all-day, all ages event, AIR will open its studios, workshops, galleries and archives to offer:
* Hands-on demonstrations of print-making processes;
* An exhibition of works produced by established and emerging national and regional artists;
* raffles of the exhibiting artist's work;
* original print editions for sale;
* food & drink from area restaurants
* music, performance & dancing!
Hands-on activities include papermaking, monoprinting, letterpress printing, screenprinting, digital portraits and more.

DONATING 100 DOLLARS
Each year, for the past few years AIR has attempted to get 100 DOLLARS FROM 100 PEOPLE. Each year we have come up a little short, but we continue to get closer. This year we are trying again. Please help us out and return the enclosed slip (or call) with your name, contact information and payment to help us reach our goal of 100 DOLLARS FROM 100 PEOPLE. Your contribution is tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
BUYING THIS PRINT
The 2008 benefit print entitled "Honey Bear" was created by Mike Budai and printed at Egress press. The eight color lithograph is approximately 12" x 18" and was printed on paper in an edition of 80. Forty prints will be available for $100.00 each during this fundraising event.
BRINGING STUFF TO PRINT
This year we will be setting up printing and processing stations throughout the shop that will enable us to CAPTURE, ORGANIZE, PROCESS AND PRINT materials that you bring to the party. BRING PHOTOGRAPHS, TRINKETS AND OTHER OBJECTS FOR US TO SCAN, PROCESS AND PRINT. We can shoot digital pictures or scan objects that you bring
All of these activities are family friendly and everything will happen on a first come first serve basis--when we're out of materials, we're done. We will provide paper, ink and printing screens free of charge for as long as supplies last. If you want to print on your own t-shirt or other materials, bring them along and we will do what we can (if it gets too complex, we will charge a fee)--BRING STUFF AND HAVE FUN.
